About Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences
Pakistan Institute of Medical science is a well-known research and health institute established in Islamabad, Pakistan. It is one of the leading medical institutes that is on the tertiary level having nearly 22 surgical and medical specialist centers. This institute was formed in 1985 and also includes three other semi-autonomous hospitals. These health care units are Islamabad Hospital that spreads over 3.5 hectares and the second one is Children’s Hospital with 230 beds, specialized in Pediatric care. The third one is the Maternal and Child Care Centre specialized in obstetrics and gynecology. Among these IH is the main hospital of PIMS that provides medical facilities to the people residing in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The medical training to new doctors and field related persons are given through Quaid-e-Azam Postgraduate Medical College that was incorporated on 1 February 1989. Later another university named Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University was established in 2013 through the Act of Parliament.
